CBoTB- Lone Oak Brewing Part II

Last week, Lone Oak Farm Brewing owners Ralph and Ryan Mollet and Chris and Charlie Miller told the story of how the brewery came to be.  This week, Ralph, Ryan, Chris and Charlie tell us about some of their beers.  But first, a little about the taproom and the farm.

When you pull into the parking lot at the front of the property, you immediately see the beautifully constructed brewery and taproom.  As you walk toward the building, the farm’s pond comes into view, as well as some large tents, a large special events pavilion, and even a playground.  Here’s an interesting note on the tents: they are part of a recent trend of creating a VIP experience in nature called glamping, with heat for cool weather, fans for warm weather and are fully furnished.

Now since this is a farm brewery, some harvesting is going on, from honey to barley malt.  Charlie Miller explains.

The taproom features a view of the brewhouse and has white oak and red oak beams framing the building, a bar made of black walnut, high top tables made of ash and a ceiling that is made of fir and constructed tongue and groove, a technique common in hardwood floors.

So now that you have a picture of the brewery in your mind, it’s time to taste some Lone Oak beer, brewed by head brewer, Kevin Hilton!

Here’s Chris Miller on OAKtoberfest and Olney Amber.

Next, 24 Session, as described by Ryan Mollet.

And now, Ralph Mollet on Deep Root.

Lone Oak Farm Brewing is located at 5000 Olney Laytonsville Road in Olney and is open Wednesday through Sunday.  It’s a nice way to spend a Fall afternoon and early evening.

Cheers!
