Last week, Double Groove Brewing Co-Founder and Owner, Mark Moody, told us about his brewing background and the formation of the brewery. Mark and his wife, Lisa Moody, opened Double Groove Brewing in January last year. As they worked through operating during a pandemic, Kyle Waters, a regular customer, started helping out with a few things around the brewery. Soon afterwards, Kyle became a partner and an assistant brewer for Mark. Kyle had been a home brewer and wanted to learn more. Kyle fills us in.

Mark Moody is a craftsman and has an approach that’s very much about care, precision, and being true to beer styles.

Those styles include a Berliner Weisse, an ESB, a Brown Ale and of course IPAs. I asked Mark to describe some of their beers.

That’s Gimme Three Hops after, of course, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gimme Three Steps. Next, inspired in name by Foreigner’s Dirty White Boy, it’s Dirty White IPA.

And now, a beer that draws its name from a Van Morrison song.

So now that you’re really thirsty, here’s an extra reason to visit the Double Groove taproom: on Sunday, October 3rd from 12noon-6pm, Double Groove Brewing is hosting an afternoon of music… and of course Double Groove beer! The event is Rock The Lot and it benefits the Harford Community Action Agency, helping individuals and families who are faced with housing, food, heating and family counseling challenges.
In the meantime, head to Double Groove for some really good craft beer. I’ll see you there!
Cheers!
