CBoTB- Double Groove Brewing Pt. 1

It was a little over a year-and-a-half ago when Double Groove Brewing opened its doors in Forest Hill for the first time.  January 22, 2020 was a big day for Double Groove Co-Founders Mark and Lisa Moody because this was a dream that was years in the making.

I got together with Mark and Lisa Moody and their new business partner, Kyle Waters, and talked about the brewery’s road to opening and Mark’s approach to brewing.  Mark Moody was a 20-year executive in the healthcare industry and ready for a change.

So Mark went to school to learn how to take his homebrewing craft to a new level and understand the nuances in scaling up his batches for a commercial brewing system.  At the same time, Mark and Lisa were working through a two-year planning process dealing with laws, regulations and codes to find a space where they could build their brewery.  Finally, Double Groove Brewing found its home at 1659 Robin Circle in Forest Hill, but then our world started to change.  So Double Groove moved quickly.

Now… how about the Double Groove name?

And the Classic Rock theme is a big part of the vibe inside Double Groove’s taproom.

Next week, Mark Moody talks about his philosophy on brewing, his thoughts on beer styles and the quality control that is such a critical part of Double Groove beer.

Until then…

Cheers!
