CBoTB: Flood Zone Brewery-Part I

Two weeks ago, on a beautiful Fall day very much like today, I drove to Union Bridge to visit another new Maryland craft brewery.  Flood Zone Brewery opened on February 29th this year on North Main Street in Union Bridge.  Despite the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic created, they found a way to navigate those early days.  Now, eight months later, with good, progressive and safe thinking, Flood Zone Brewery is doing well.

I got together with Head Brewer Keith Waybright in the brewery taproom and after a look at their brewing system, we headed outside with a couple beers to a picnic table next to Little Pipe Creek, a stream that runs along the edge of their property.  I asked Keith about his background in brewing.

That was 2016 and 2017, a two year period when Keith learned how to brew on a 10 barrel brewing system, developed and refined his recipes and helped that Gettysburg brewery become profitable for the first time.  Then an unexpected conversation took place.

Next week, Keith Waybright tells us about Flood Zone Brewery’s growth, the taproom, and their outside space.  And, of course, we’ll talk about some of their beers!

Flood Zone Brewery is open right now, and all weekend!  So take a drive to Union Bridge and drink some craft beer!
