Because of the coronavirus outbreak, I am unable to visit breweries. Subsequently, we are repeating Craft Beer on The Bay blogs and podcasts from the last six years. This is Craft Beer on The Bay featuring Independent Brewing from July 8, 2016.
The fun… the joy… in drinking craft beer comes from that amazing experience of seeing it in the glass, smelling the aroma, and tasting the liquid nectar.
But not just anybody can make outstanding craft beer. It takes time, patience, and a love for beer. Independent Brewing’s Phil Rhudy is one of those guys who consistently captures magic in a barrel and brews amazing craft beer.

And Independent Brewing is just that: a part of the Bel Air community. It was just a little less than two years ago that Phil Rhudy signed a lease to build a craft brewery on the edge of downtown. After a short delay, construction began in January 2015. In September, the equipment arrived and the brewing system was assembled. Then on October 30th, 2015, Independent Brewing opened its doors. It’s a great space and a great place. Yes, it takes time, patience and a love for beer to create a brewery like Independent, but the wait was worth it. You’ll find 22 gluten-free beers available on every visit and a bunch of people enjoying a special part of life: enjoying craft beer with family and friends.
Next week, I’ll share a little more of the Independent Brewing story. Until then…
