CBOTB-Slate Farm Brewery’s New Taproom

Summertime is in the air—a perfect time to drive through the picturesque Harford County countryside and stop in for a craft beer at Slate Farm Brewery in Whiteford.  And that’s just what I did Tuesday afternoon.

Kiel Brown and his brother Sam Brown opened Slate Farm Brewery last year on the family farm and built a pavilion style taproom allowing us to enjoy their beer while taking in the beauty of the farm.  Then, over the winter and early spring, Slate began designing and building their new taproom; a taproom that officially opened just three weeks ago.  Kiel Brown and I sat down and talked about their wonderful new space.

And that old world, rustic tile also covers the walls surrounding the bar itself.  Opposite the the bar is a wall made entirely of glass garage doors allowing for the taproom to be open air on a beautiful day… like Tuesday was!  The other walls feature lots of large glass windows and fascinating wood panels.

But of course, a taproom isn’t complete without some good beer.  First up, Blackberry Brut from Slate Farm Brewery.

Delicious is right!  Blackberry Brut is outstanding!  Slate Farm Brewery has 30 tap handles and tries to keep 20 beers on draft at any given time, including Midnight Black Lager, our second beer of the afternoon.

Slate Farm Brewery is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is located at 2128 Whiteford Road in Whiteford.  It’s the weekend—a great reason to spend time at Slate Farm Brewery!

Cheers!
