CBoTB-Waredaca Brewing Company

When the Maryland General Assembly passed the farm brewery bill in July 2014, it gave farmers a new option about how to make their farms profitable.  Since then, farm breweries have opened all over Maryland, many of which have been the subject of this Craft Beer on The Bay feature.

Last week, I stopped by Waredaca Brewing in Laytonsville and spent some time with Keith Kohr, one of the brewery’s co-founders and Waredaca’s Head Brewer.

In addition to using existing structures and finding ways to recycle spent grain and water, farm breweries must use products from the farm.  Keith Kohr explains how the farm contributes to Waredaca Brewing’s beer.

Whether you’re looking for a lager, stout, witbier, pale ale, IPA or even a gluten-reduced craft beer, Waredaca has something for you.  And the big bonus is that Waredaca Brewing is making some really good beer.

The drive to the farm is beautiful, as is the farm setting itself.  The taproom is intimate and warm and with Spring in full effect, there’s lots of space outdoors!  Waredaca Brewing is located at 4017 Damascus Road, in Laytonsville.
