Slate Farm Brewery

When the Maryland General Assembly passed the farm brewery bill in 2014, a new way to enjoy beer was about to become a reality for craft beer enthusiasts everywhere! It was at that time that two brothers, Kiel and Sam Brown, took their dream and started to make it come true. This is the story of Slate Farm Brewery.

Here’s Slate’s Kiel Brown.

Slate Farm Brewery uses a 2½ barrel system, taking two brews and combining them in 5 barrel fermenters. Many of their beers feature Cascade, Centennial, and Nugget hops grown right there in the farm’s hop yard. Once the beer is finished, it’s taken to the taproom just a few feet away, a taproom that features ten different Slate beers on a rotating basis… including one that you can pretty much count on always being there.

And it is just that… amazing. For lager lovers, you have to taste Slate’s Pushmower Pils, a crisp, clean, and perfectly made Pilsner. Slate Farm Brewery is located at 2128 Whiteford Road in Whiteford and is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I’ll see you there!
