Songwriters Hall of Fame announces 2017 Inductees:
Less than a year after their group's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, three members of Chicago will be enshrined into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera will be recognized for their catalog of hits on June 15th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Also being enshrined are Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Jay Z (Shawn Carter). Motown founder Berry Gordy, who deferred his induction in 2016, will also be part of this year's class.
Those who came up short this year are Bryan Adams, Cat Stevens, Jeff Lynne, Sly Stone and the late George Michael.
Unlike the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which has a building in Cleveland, the Songwriters Hall of Fame only exists online at SongwritersHallofFame.org/.
